Nick Jones - expertise & experience

Nick trained in the City of London with leading international law firm Wilde Sapte (now SNR Denton) before moving North to Manchester in 1995.  He spent 17 years at Hammonds (latterly Squire Sanders), heading up its North West Employment team for over 10 years.

 

With an excellent reputation in the employment law market, Nick has worked with both domestic UK and international clients across the range of employment law matters.

 

His work has covered several major restructuring projects, numerous high profile examples of board level change, some of the highest value severances handled within the North West as well as contractual disputes, restrictive covenants/injunctive relief claims (including advising on team moves), employment litigation and advisory work with a particular focus on risk management and mitigation.

 

A tough negotiator and respected tactician, Nick has an excellent and logstanding track record of delivering results for companies and senior executives alike.

 

Nick is an established figure within the North West, not just within legal circles but also within the business and professionals community, his recent role as CBI North West regional councillor has kept him closely connected with, and aligned to, the challenges faced by business.

  • Board level restructuring for FTSE listed PLC (acting for the Company).

 

  • Advising in connection with several senior departures for leading national retailer.

 

  • Large scale restructuring/change management projects (typically involving substantial numbers of employees) for international paper and telecoms companies, global chemicals company and leading Japanese brand hi-tech manufacturer, covering closure situations, TUPE transfers, changes to terms and conditions and redundancies.

 

  • Dealing with severances of Premier League football manager (on behalf of the Club), opposite respected senior and leading counsel (acting for the manager).

 

  • Acting for CEO of global healthcare giant.

 

  • Providing strategic advice on restrictive covenant/team move issues across a range of sectors including professional services (acting for a team of moving lawyers), hospitality/catering (acting for the restraining company) and contract
    cleaning (acting for a newco).

 

  • Advising leading multi-sited manufacturer in respect of highly sensitive Public Interest Disclosure Act issues against backdrop of internal grievances and allegations of discrimination.
